Pilot projects for California’s long-term future
California 100, a two-year initiative from 2021-2023, was inspired by a daring question: How can we envision and catalyze a dramatically better future for our state, and how can we expand our capacity for research, policy innovation, and collective action to make that vision a reality?
The capsule California 100 website captures recommendations informed by thousands of Californians, research institutions and centers, government partners, youth, community-based organizations, and an intergenerational commission to drive that vision forward.
The California 100 Initiative engaged a diverse set of Californians directly to create a vision for our state’s future that is innovative, sustainable, and equitable for all. We worked to strengthen California’s ability to collectively solve problems and shape our long-term future for the next generation.
Our work was organized around 15 policy domains and driven by interrelated stages of work: research, policy innovation and engagement, advanced technology, and youth. This work was led by an expert and intergenerational commission.
Through original research, policy demonstration projects, youth convenings, strategic partnerships, a statewide deliberative poll and more, California 100 sought to move California towards an aspirational vision–changing policies and practices, attitudes and mindsets, to catalyze a more vibrant future.
California 100 was incubated at the University of California and Stanford University.
