Graduate Student Researcher

Sofia Magallon is a Graduate Student Researcher at the Possibility Lab, where she conducts research and data analysis on clean energy as part of the Lab’s Abundance Accelerator initiative. She is pursuing a Master of Public Policy at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School and holds a B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy from UC Berkeley.

A proud Mexican-American from Oxnard, California, Sofia is committed to advancing climate and environmental policies that are grounded in community needs and lived experience. Before graduate school, she served as the Environmental Justice Policy Advocate at CAUSE, a community-based organization, where she worked closely with California’s communities to advance statewide environmental policies, such as zero-emission standards, that promote public health and create better opportunities for working families. During her time at Goldman, she has also worked as a research consultant with the California Energy Commission and the California Environmental Justice Alliance (CEJA).

Sofia enjoys playing chess, hiking the Berkeley trails, rock climbing, and spending time with her family outside of work.
