Emily Swide
Chief of Staff

Emily is the Chief of Staff at the Possibility Lab, where she helps to bridge the gap between strategic vision and practical execution. She joined the Possibility Lab in June of 2022 as a Graduate Student Researcher while completing her Master’s degree in Public Policy. During that time, Emily conducted policy-relevant research related to the criminal legal system with REFORM Alliance and the California Committee on Revision of the Penal Code.

Prior to that, she served as Director of Scheduling in the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom and Director of Scheduling and Advance for the Governor’s 2018 gubernatorial campaign. She has worked on numerous campaigns, including Libby Schaaf for Oakland Mayor, Shanell Williams for the Board of Trustees at City College of San Francisco, and Lateefah Simon for BART Board of Directors.

Emily is passionate about giving back to the community and has been an active volunteer at San Quentin since 2015, where she has worked with Mount Tamalpais College, the California Reentry Program, and the San Quentin News. She is a proud alum of UC Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies and a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy. As a Bay Area native, she is a lifelong Warriors fan and California evangelist.
